Not trying : Sat Apr 25, 2009 12:02 pm
I think its only right to criticise the team when they underperform so badly (v Salford and Harlequins) If there was a valid reason, like excessive injuries or lots of youngsters being introduced I would get right behind them. But we "know" this team were Champions last year, with (pretty much) the same squad, so these performances are just not good enough. These are tough times and if I'm spending my hard earned money I want full value for it. Have some of the players become complacent, has our coach not got the ability to give them a "kick up the booty" when its needed.
I don't know. but I do know though that its not good enough. :(

The not trying is bad enough, but what really concerns me is the seeming absence of any game plan. Playing one man rugby will win very few games. Even mediocre teams have sussed out that the way to beat Leeds is to slow them down at the play the ball and then play disciplined basic rugby - good defence, good support play, good offloading. We don't have a clue about the last two in particular, the kicking game is appalling and there isn't a plan A let alone a Plan B.

Oh, I forgot, it will all come magically right ready for the Grand Final, won't it?!!!!

Your right there. Last nights general kicking was the worst I've seen from Leeds. McGuire, Burrow and Sinfield were all guilty. It improved slightly in the second half, but the 1st half?!! Truely awful. It went to Melling every time down his throat. I thought they should have tried more attacking kicks early in the set in the 2nd half, we weren't getting through the defensive line so I expected to see some chip over or reverse kicks. And what matched the awful general kicking game? The 'short' kick-offs, all shocking.

The sooner the MM weekend is over and the lads have a week off the better, Kev alluded to the fact that the boys were demoralised and a bit down after the defeat by saints weeks ago and they look out on their feet at times.

There is no quick fix for the troubles that ail us at the mo just some serious R + R to recharge the batteries and hard graft on the training pitch to get our fluidity back and im sure that we are capable of doing just that.

Amen.

Contadiction in terms?

To recharge a battery it has to be flat, we haven't done the work, so we SHOULD be good to go. 'R+R'?? No chance! I wouldn't be surprised if they were training this morning or tomorrow. I'm all for rewading success, but it swings both ways. Leeds need to start grafting, and getting the results and performance. I wouldn't go easy with them right now. Last nights display was unacceptable, plenty of work ahead.

Not really, surely you get the gist

They are busted right about now and need some time to sort themselves out, hence the CC round after the MM weekend will no doubt be used to iron out the deficencies we currently have.

Leeds have looked poor ALL SEASON this to me says that there is indeed a hangover from the world cup/pre season that has yet to be rectified. Although i freely admit that excuse if you will hasnt stopped saints marching away at the top of the league.

They haven't hit any kind of form all season, I don't buy the 'hangover' TBH. Bluey and Co need to be pro-active and act quickly to swing this round. I know there are plenty of games to go, we have looked a shadow of the team we saw last season and I just don't know if a free weekend is gonna solve all our season long problems. Good to know when you can book holidays though.
