Poor turnout but to be expected.
Headingley is a cracking venue when full but just didnt have the pull or feel of a weekend away at the coast at Blackpool for some fans.
Reading through some of the "reviews" from different fans the usual problems are flagged up.
*poor parking
*poor food options
*nothing in and around the ground
*poor access / walking distance to amenities in Headingley itself.
*Didnt have that "special" feeling of a big event - just popping on a bus into Leeds.
We went on the Saturday and tbh it was a bit flat all day, we kept bobbing up into Headingley but it was rammed out with Otley Runners and various teams had taken over the bars so everywhere was queuing like mad and in the case of Brewdog they drank them dry. It didnt seem that anyone outside of the Championship even knew this event was taking place so most of the bars were understaffed but I suppose thats just a normal Saturday up there. All in all we had a decent enough day but it didnt strike me as a big event, just a few games of RL bunged together last minute
Highlight of the weekend was my mate cracking on about Gawwy making him collect his tickets from the office and being too tight to post them out quite loudly outside the ticket office only to turn round and have the big man right there. to tell him "It saves us on postage costs!"
Never change Darth, never change.
