To start off Leeds are the back to back Super League champions. This I feel is the reason for our bad form. At the end of the day this Leeds team know they can take the long route (2 games) to Old Trafford and still win the showcase event.
St Helens on the other hand have to play every game as if it is they grand final in order to win the hub cup. If the saints didn’t win the hub cup, lose out at Old Trafford and won the challenge cup it would show them for what they really are which is a club that is bitterly jealous of Wigan’s record in a cup competition that has seen better days.
Now the challenge cup has a lot of history and the cup final itself is a massive sporting even that attracts a big stadium crowd along with big TV figures. But take the cup final away from the challenge cup and its just a glorified northern rail cup run that attracts dismissal figures in the majority of the rounds.
It is the Super League Grand Final that rugby league is all about in this country. This is what Leeds are all about. Leeds Rhinos will win the Grand Final this year. The loses we’ve had against St Helens in the last few years in minor games we’ve been in bad form. Take for example this year where we was still recovering from that cruel WCC match that only Leeds Rhinos could make look competitive from this country.
Now onto Bradford. Bradford Bull fans think they where cruelly robbed in the first Millennium Magic meeting. Oh how their memories are short when they cheated they way to beat Leeds at Old Trafford in 2005 by breaking the salary cap. At the end of the day Bradford couldn’t of won the SL grand final if it wasn’t for illegally breaking the cap. Bradford Bulls have had a similar start this season and are making similar strides now. However this is just a highly confident Bradford that will soon be bough back down to the level when Leeds next meet them.
Wigan I still have no respect when they bough a SL place forcing Castleford Tigers to go down. Leeds showed what they where capable of when they thrashed Wigan earlier this season. Leeds can thrash any time when they want as shown v the Huddersfield game.
The other teams have no hope in hell and it still is the top four in super league. Always have been and always will be. The odd club might have they year in the sun but that it. Form is temporary and class is forever. This is what Leeds, Bradford, St Helens and Wigan have got whenever they did it legally or illegally. W e will always be the big four.
