The club shop website needs to be drastically improved. I know quite a lot of people up home that would like to order things from it, but the selection of stuff they put up there is poor.

I offered my view some time ago that its a very typical example of what you get when you go to "professional" web site designers who really want to show off what they can do rather than produce a web site that is useful to the client - my own company's head office web site is exactly the same and gets far fewer hits than the one that I did from scratch for our branch in Leeds - thats not because I am super-good at designing web sites, just that I made ours a straighforward sales web site and took note of what an optimisation expert told me to do.
Given that our club win awards nearly every season for the outstanding quality of the matchday programme, and the fact that the programme is written totally in-house, then I think the answer is hitting everyone in the face with a baseball bat - ditch the graphic front end and go for a magazine format with a simple page index type navigation, its something that the in-house programme author(s) will feel familiar with - and by the way, ditch the blue background while you're at it.

I could talk for hours about this. I agree with everything you've said.
Also, we're World Champions!! The website looks like it belongs to a Sunday League Club with a bit of time on their hands.
It's amazing that we can be innovative with our repeatedly “award winning” match day programme, but ignore the website, which as someone has already stated has not been updated in over 7 years - very poor.
Why do we have to go thru the various selection processes to get the Rhino's home page? If we wanted Cricket, UNION, corporate, retail, experience or Lodge, we would find it thru a normal search engine. It would be interesting to see how many "hits" these sites have taken. We don't even have a TOP 10 Stats page for appearances, Tries, Kicks etc.
Come on get us an Informative Website to be proud of, we may be Double Super League Champions, but we a bottom of the table with the Website.
I was surfing the other day and came across Pompeys website http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/, it's inviting and provides various info etc, even video clips. Why should we have to go to youtube to watch Donald score his brilliant try against Hull last season, our site should have this and more.
