Is anyone really that bothered about the CC anymore. its a good day out in London but its our equivalent of the league cup at best. If the RFL decided to drop the competition entirely to reduce the number of games our players play and strengthen the international teams chances at the end of the season I would wholeheartedly applaud. The CC is the last trace of the winter game which we got rid of over a decade ago. If we lost that and the BBCs appauling and embarassing coverage I would be extremely happy. The game should mean one thing the grand final. period.

I'd certainly have enjoyed beating saints simply because I hate scousers but in the scheme of the season the 4 game rest will be massive for us.

Given the straight choice between the 2 i'd pick the SL every time but i was still gutted to lose and the cup is still special especially this year imo.

What have scousers got to do with it?

Sadly, their goal line defence was miles better than ours. Their tries didn't take a huge amount of scoring.

Actually that's been the case for the last year tbh. We never looked like breaking them down in the play off game, the semi final, or the game at Headingley last year. Yesterday was the first try from in our own half against them.

Surely its the RL equivalent of the FA Cup, the old Regal Trophy would be an equivalent to the League Cup.

I wouldnt, I'd say how come the Aussies can play 3 high intensity State of Origin games mid-season and still kick our @rses

For me the Challenge Cup is a link to the past, and I dont think we should sever all links to earlier era's in RL simply because we had to change to summer rugby, and because Leeds havent won it for a decade.
The CC has its place, it's not as important as the Grand Final but its a close second IMO.

Not to mention its the only time anyone south of the M62 notices RL.

I was beginning to think there would be nothing anyone posted today that I could wholeheartedly agree with. Thanks for that, I needed it.

an atmosphere that isn't created by people in matching shirts clapping along to a drum or novelty PA music might be nice!
