I thought that the issue there was that he didn't have the appropriate coaching qualifications for that level?
Don't you need level 4 or equivalent?

The reason Huddersfield gave at the time was that he didn't have a Level 3 coaching certificate. IIRC Schofield took them to an industrial tribunal over it but I can't remember the outcome.

It was a polite way of showing him the door because he'd completely lost the dressing room and the directors were fed up of him continually slagging off his own players to anyone who would listen.

Where's tvoc withh his encyclopaedic knowledge when you need him?
I don't doubt that Huddersfield wanted rid, as I recall it was another oustanding piece of business by GH that got him there in the 1st place.

Re: Garry Schofield... : Wed Nov 17, 2010 8:03 pm
I actually congratulate Garry on having the ba11s in taking on such an ambitious club as Barrow

Surely after all the slagging off he's done in the weekly rags for god knows how long, that he knows that the vultures will be baying for his blood should he fail

This is clearly Garry's time to finally put up, or shut up!

If he fails then i believe that his coaching career will be well and truly over, surely he knows this too?

I personally hope that he proves to be a success in the job, but that he gets enough reminders during the season that makes him realise that all his rantings were all cheap and that when his side/ or any side, coach, or player has it's dip in form, that it's how you pull out of it that counts

IMO if Garry had played his cards right he could have had a job for life at the Rhinos, he has only got his self to blame as to why he's not though!

Garry as a former player, and one of undoubted world class status within the game, should be able to bring something to our game

It's sadly his fault that he hasn't been allowed to!

Sent back through time to rid the world of bovine related sports teams

Re: Garry Schofield... : Thu Nov 18, 2010 8:28 am
I am reminded of a quote by a famous Australian in the late eighties when discussing the training regime at Naughton Park. It went something along the lines of "it's usually once round the pitch and then off to the pub".

Well all things retro are in fashion these days.

On a serious note, it would be nice to think that could make a buck doing something positive for the game. In that regard, I wish him luck.

I've been as critical of him as anyone, but I really do wish him good luck with the Barrow job and hope it works out well.

Barrow for Super League 2015

Re: Garry Schofield... : Thu Nov 18, 2010 11:32 am
As a Barrow fan, I'm pretty happy this morning with our new Schofield/Wright coaching partnership. As with all coaching appointments, time will tell whether it was the right decision.

I know he's been a controversial figure in the media over the last few years but that's what sells papers/magazines, grabs the headlines and gets people talking.

I think it's good that he'll have Nigel Wright working with him.
Has Schoey done that so that he can get a lift up there?
