McDermott is going. I actually think he is more relaxed because of it, and seems to have let the shackles go. He apparently asked to finish the season, and that is what they agreed.

I really hope what I heard this morning is true.
I'm sworn to secrecy but if and when the news does come out I'll confirm if that's it.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

Re: Today's YEP : Tue Oct 18, 2016 10:22 am
I can't believe the club is so short of money it has to make cuts to its playing squad - that is like biting the hand that feeds you.

Yes GH is careful with the money but he is nobody's fool and he understands the importance of having a competitive side - if nothing else positive comes out of this season the club as a whole should have learned that.

What I can see happening is only half the North stand getting built i.e. the cricket side and there being no further development of the rugby side for some considerable time.

I can accept that he is willing to back Mac and allow the majority of the squad next year to right this seasons fiasco. However, what i can't excuse is that it can't be acknowledged we need minimum a half back to get the side back contending. Someone said that this is typical GH, and he doesn't reveal his hand regards transfer activity..i hope this is true in this case as if not, i really can't see things improving greatly. I would already say as we stand right now that Wigan, Cas, Saints, Warrington and Hull have better squads than us and there is every chance Catalans and Huddersfield will be back on form. Could be another tough slog.

Have people even bothered to read the article? He doesn't even say we won't be making anymore signings, he says "we are prioritising the players we already have here". Does anyone actually believe "it's Zak'a preference to stay in SL"....hell no he just can't get a gig in the NRL.

From GH on 22nd Dec last year

"But Hetherington said Rhinos have no room for him in their squad. Leeds’ 25-man first-team group for next year was confirmed last month and Hetherington insisted: “We aren’t pursuing Brett Ferres.” The Leeds chief executive also reckons that Ferres could well struggle to find a new club at this stage of the pre-season programme. He added: “If he had been transfer-listed three months ago I think there would have been quite a keen competition to secure him, both here and overseas. But at this stage for any team to fit him into their squad will be difficult, unless they have created space. That is something we have done in the past, but not this year."

Then low and behold Ferres is at Headingley for the Boxing Day game and is announced on the 4th of January.

But GH knew Hudds. had little room to move in regards getting a transfer fee for Ferres and with most teams budget used he played the waiting game with this little bit of kidology. We were always interested in him just GH being shrewd/ tight.

what he says in todays column indicates we have done our business already and the focus will be on using academy graduates to fill the gaps.

Or perhaps no new north stand either side?

Would you like more custard with your bread and butter pudding, Sir?
