It's a knock on if the ball travels forward from the point it is touched (in this case by JJB's hand) in relation to the ground. It doesn't have to hit the floor, another player or the post in this instance.
Had JJB made a deliberate slap at the ball he may have got away with it being adjudged as a pass, he didn't and it wasn't. It was a clear knock on and the correct ruling by the video referee, IMO.
