I am stunned at the level of animosity towards BMD from a rival spectator's point of view. Ok you are having a bad season, you have lost some big players and things need to be shook up but Jesus H Christ can't some of you show some dignity to the man. He has brought you nothing but success and you chastise him like he is the devil. I don't like Wane very much but he has given us many finals to look forward to and on course for another and i will always be grateful for it. Some of you have very short memories and should be ashamed.

Fortunately this particular set of keyboard warriors are not representative of the normal Leeds supporters who have more class and dignity. Some of these spectators you speak of have a history of knee jerk reaction to decisions made by the coach of which they have no understanding. Despite an unusual set of off field circumstances, none of which are within the control of the coach, they still hold him to blame for everything. Even the latest rumours which may well have been the cause of the poor form of certain players have not cut the coach any slack. As you say short memories and short of patience and understanding too.

But that wouldn't be Leeds' management's view if past history is anything to go by - tried to re-sign Harris & Ellis (& Morley?) after they walked away

Well said Juan. You have to remember thst plenty of Leeds fans have never seen this before and cant handle losing every week as all they have seen is success.

Wigan had 8 or 9 players out at Wakey and Warrington and got 100 points put past them combined. Leeds have had 8 or 9 out most weeks. Any team with £1m of salary cap sat in stand every week would be in our position.

Give Tranmere Rovers Man Citys wage bill and they would be near top of Premiership. Give City Tranmeres budget and they would be down the leagues again.

There are things McD could have dealt with better but there is so much out of his control this year that i believe he will be given more time to get it right.

"Brian McDermott, with a wry smile, nods when asked if he remembers a specific incident which made him realise he was a prick. 'I do', he murmurs."

You could alternately say they have long memories - they've never forgotten or forgiven McDermott for humiliating them and their simplistic analyses by being magnificently successful after they authoritatively wrote him off and demanded his sacking in 2011.

Your job is to say to yourself on a job interview does the hiring manager likes me or not. If you aren't a particular manager's cup of tea, you haven't failed -- you've dodged a bullet.

I disagree most on here don't blame the coach for everything - most blame him for what he is paid to do i.e. performances on the field. It is not the losses that most find tough its the manner of the defeats. If his job is not to make the best of what is available what is it?

Even with all the injuries this team is not performing as it should - even McDermott's most ardent supporters have to accept that - least points scored, most points conceded bottom of the league - these facts don't lie. McDermott has to take some of the blame surely?

It's easy to make people out to be moronic for laying blame at the coaches table, but like you said, it's the nature of the performances. This season has been the yang to last seasons ying where virtually anything that could have gone wrong has. But in a season where SL has looked at its weakest, we've had good enough players on the pitch to do better. There are numerous rumours flying around about what's happening behind the scenes and we don't know how true they are. But we do know what we see and that's a team that looks embarrassingly under prepared. At this point we'd have expected some improvement but it looks to be getting worse. I haven't been a fan of McDermott's over the years, mainly for the style of Rugby we played, but respect and appreciate all the trophies he's brought to the club. I can't see him going before the end of the year, as much because there's no stand out candidate to come in, but think it's time for him to move on.

Spot on - it seems that no matter how much you say that you are purely criticizing BMD's lack of ability to get the most of what he has available to him (tactics, structures, motivation etc), the pro-BMD brigade will not have it & talk continually of people wanting rid of him for years (I haven't), floods, injuries, bad influences etc - anything, in fact, except his actual performance in his day job.

Simple question for these posters - Do you think, with all this season's circumstances accepted, with the players he has been able to put on the field, that the performances have been acceptable from a coaching perspective (again tactics, structures, motivation, use of substitutes, positional changes)?

Perhaps because he has to spend so much time managing players' egos McDermott doesn't spend too much time doing the same for the press and fans. He isn't afraid to show when he thinks the questions asked at press conferences are idiotic and the people asking them are morons. He certainly will have the same view of fans who think they know everything although it's probably better hidden.

It's one of the most appealing things about him as a person in my view.

Managing player's egos is his job that is what he gets paid for. What he does at press conferences is to suggest any criticism of him is idiotic e.g. use of substitutes. His stubbornness and spitefulness e.g. Baldwinson non selection does him no favours when the going is tough and you need a few friends. As the saying goes "what goes around comes around"
