Enjoyed the Saints/ salford Game, however as in most games this season the activities around the ruck area are spoiling the game. Depressingly the RL authorities don’t seem to have the courage or inclination to sort out this problem.
The amount of time the VR took to confirm the blindingly obvious - that Ritson had knocked on into the defender - was ridiculous. He had identified the touch by Ritson, acknowledged it had hit the defender, then took an age to determine the direction the ball had travelled. Given the defender was stood between Ritson and the try line, it was self evident. Incredibly frustrating.
Dont know where this "lets explain everything out to the Nth degree" when its pretty obvious its a no try / try stuff has come from.
The sooner we get away from Refs call try / no try the better. I'll say it again, change the wording to "Is there a reason I cannot give this try?" then put the onus on the VR, If the ref suspects something he can obviously update the VR with his insights etc.
