| why in earth wouldnt you give him 2 years? he's been sensational.
as long as the contract has clauses regarding off field issues what's the problem?

| Now that he is here, focused, and wanting to stay, it really would be shooting ourselves in the foot to let him leave. He's our best full back (Myler is also excellent) and in my opinion, our most complete centre. Appreciate that Newman's potential is greater and with luck he will achieve it.

| Impossible to know. Maybe cap situation is restricting what we're able to offer? We've a core of young players retained on long contracts which presumably involve increasing salary costs through their duration. But agree, in on field terms a 2 year deal would seem reasonable

| Its about time we played a bit more hardball with length of contracts, though 2 years would seem about right if we want Hardaker.

| I wouldn't mind 2 years, as long as there is a clause about off-field behaviour.
If he transgresses, contract breached and therefore cancelled.

There will be a clause in every players contract about off field behaviour and code of conduct any player/employee can be sacked if they breech. Personally I think 1 year is enough if plays well next year he gets another year. Its may be dependent on if we get the lad from Batley and he makes the step up

| With Walkers injury today, that has to heighten the significance in getting that deal done

| 2 years without doubt.
He is a class player and is showing it on the field.
Great at FB and more than capable at centre and a good back up goal kicker.

| Walker being injured and not clearing off the salary cap could really scupper the club's plans for next year's renewals and recruitment.

| Such a shame for Walker. I honestly think he would have been one of the very best, but been sadly robbed. Trying to stay positive for him, but if that foot again then I’m more sure he’ll come back. Club and fans need to give him all the support we can.

| I wish him well, he's had terrible luck. I've never been in the camp thinking he would be a superstar, but I hope he recovers and gets back to playing. If its the same foot that kept him out of playing for so long then he's going to need some real determination to come back, and even then it might not be possible.
