It's April. It doesn't matter.
Especially when we have so many players out and waiting to come back...oh hang on a minute?
Last year we dipped when we had injuries, but we were still good enough to beat most. I'm struggling to see how this is going to get anything but worse. It will be a true coaching masterclass if we rescue this year. We are double champions, we shouldn't be in a position where at virtually full strength we are struggling to win home games like this. This squad is looking shockingly short of pace and attacking options. For me it's all about the attack this year, the way we have worked with the ball is not putting enough pressure on opponents. We can defend well, but with a poor attack that's always going to be not good enough.
Near the line we have no go-to plays or structure and we have not enough pace to attack from deep anymore - not to mention the offload game has vanished. It's too easy for teams to handle us.
TVOC made a good point, at the moment we have the best core of any team in the league , McGuire, Burrow, Sinfield, Peacock, JJB, Webb. In a couple of years those guys will all start to decline, it's criminal for the club to not recruit the best quality players we can to feed of these guys now. Not next year, not wait 2-3 years for Kallum Watkins to mature, but now. In five years time we might look back and think about how we missed out on the opportunity. Not spending maximum cap to have the strongest possible sqaud is just incomprehensible.
Time will tell I guess and I really am hoping Bluey has an idea how to fix what's going wrong, and that the players respond.
