The transition excuse is wearing thin, look no further than the other dugout last night, he's in transition all the time, loses his best players every year, with a squad built on a shoestring budget, no Academy to call on.....Loses one of his halfs, gets our castoff in return...playoffs.
We sign two marquees, another 2 NRL forwards midseason, take the above coachs starting half midseason...2 points off bottom, exactly where we were when Agar took over, one win against any remotely decent team.
If Salfords squad can make the playoffs, playing some quality stuff aswel, our squad should be able to....Good coaching is the difference.
He’s got us out of the poop this year which was no easy task, we looked a right shambles.
Having a great CV from the past doesn’t always translate to success in a different team, look at Tim Sheens in his time in SL.
We ate just going to have to see how he goes and I really hope he proves the naysayers wrong, however I get the feeling for some anything less than us winning something next year will see him as a failure. We won’t be winning anything til at least 2021
Il start off by complimenting your optimism, wish i shared it... But
We'r 2 points off bottom, exactly where we were when he got the job, with a much easier run of fixtures and a few good signings. All he's done is win as many games as the other relegation fodder, with much better resources.
You say your not bothered by what he's done in the past, thats exactly what should be looked at when trying to get the best person fot the job...Someone with a history of doing well, we'r appointing sumone with a history of failure and suddenly expecting that to change. If past accomplishments or failures dont count for nothing then the whole employment system of CV's , Qualifications...Etc are clearly missing a trick...Just appoint a mate and hope for the best. Its ridiculous.
I dont think anyones expecting us to be winning things nxt year, some of us just dont think winning as many games as the bottom team is anything to crow about.
You dont seem to be seeing why many arnt happy with the appointment, genuine question.. what is it that your seeing with Agar that some are missing, what has he done in his whole coaching career that makes him a good appointment in your opinion?

On that basis shouldn’t we be talking to Brian McDermott again...?

I totally understand why people aren’t happy, I just have a different opinion that’s all. I also don’t like to be negative all the time and try look at positives
What has he done in the past? He’s got this team looking a whole load better, do you genuinely believe we are no better?
Past success at other teams doesn’t guarantee anything which coaches with past successes has in the recent past won a SL totle with their club?
And for that matter what are you calling past successes?

Not really. Overall assessment of SL right now and second or Third should be a reasonable target considering Wigan have that sown up right now having nowhere near the squad of recent times, also new coach and playing abysmal for the first half of the year. That is not saying a great deal and we should be minimum looking at the play offs. Saints are a level above granted but the bar below is as low as i can remember.
If we played good rugby, see things changing for the better and finished top 5 then i don't think you would find many complaining. Its not always about winning trophies. Personally i have seen enough success and trophy winning to see me through to the grave a very happy man even if we don't win owt for the rest of my time. But the rugby on offer on the whole has been imo dire for many seasons now despite some silverware thrown in ( one spell in 2015 aside) . I just want to watch my team again on regular basis and look forward to it knowing that win or lose the fare on offer will be of sufficient quality.
I have huge reservations but If Agar can make that happen he will get a thumbs up from me.

Im calling past success a history of getting teams to play to there full potential, playing above the sum of there parts in really good coaches cases. When good coaches do that, they then get the chance at bigger teams. Agar hasnt done that anywhere he's been...He's been seen as useless by fans of every team he's been at, his CV backs that up. its a shame because i like him, i would love him to prove me wrong, but i dont think he's the right appointment.
7 wins, 8 losses...Thats your proving point for his credentials? In his whole coaching career?...Is that the limit of the clubs and fans ambition now. Im not saying we havnt improved a touch since he took over, but we'v still been poor, the only decent team we beat were Cas. You also seem to be refusing to acknowledge the easier run of fixtures and improved personnel.
End of the day im giving you his coaching history, actual results and performance, as a reason im not thrilled with his appointment, your giving me hope, opinion and this seasons efforts, which are getting massively overrated imo, as the reasons your ok with it...I hope im wrong and your absolutely right.

Im not refusing to acknowledge anything, we look a far better ‘team’ than the first half of the year IMO regardless of who we've played, you mention new personel how do you know Agar didn’t have a big hand in bringing those recruits in?
I hope he proves the doubters wrong too.
I think he’ll go better than many are suggesting. Do I think he’s the coach to take us back to winning silverware? I don’t think ultimately he is but I do think he’s the right coach for our current set up and situation, I totally understand I am in the minority... time will prove one of us correct.

Indeed it will, i would love to be wrong on this one.
