I'm not sure if any of you noticed it on TV (would be harder to see live, at the game) but there were several of the tries on Friday where the Hudds players were either in position to try to make a tackle on the person running through near the line, or who motioned to look as though they were, but their tackles were akin to the motion a 90 year old woman would make, trying to grab a misbehaving teenager.
I noticed it from Price in particular a couple of times. Though I obviously support Leeds, after noticing it once, I was then spotting it numerous times through the match. I found it frustrating when none of the Sky panel in the game dared acknowledge Watson pulled the 3 after 25 mins as they were coasting - Barrie Mc's rubbish about 'he must be trying to now play a different system, just in the same way as before' felt like a similar lack of effort to say what was happening.
I know Watson has been derided for how angry he was in his interview - and in some ways it was churlish - though I can also get his irritation with what his players did - especially the likes of Price and a few others at the back.
Leeds obviously won handsomely on the scoreboard, though to me it felt the played competently (ie. not dropping the ball loads, as they have recently) and they tried. Half the Hudds team were just coasting. To me it just underlined a bit that effort is important in a team game - better in some ways having an average player who always gives 100% than a very good one whose effort levels will vary depending how they feel on the night.

There’s probably a few of us on here, who think we’d be a better team with 17 Donaldson’s than we currently are!
