He's at least partly responsible but I can't help thinking he's been let down by both his CEO (for not providing him with the best squad the salary cap can buy) and the player's (for putting in a series of half-bootyd performances recently, culminating in last night.)
Before the St Helens cup game McClennan's press release was all about winning the penalty count. They didn't then and last night it was the biggest failure in that department all season and it had some pretty stiff competition to overcome.
Another great point for debate ... how many penalty counts have we actually won this season?
Without any stats, my gut feeling is we have lost the majority?
This lack of discipline is hurting us, the coach has publically stated it's a priority to fix this but the players are showing massive frustration with referees on the field.
Is this paranoia coming from the top down, could it be McClennan encouraging an "everyone is against us" mentality that is backfiring?
Another example of this is how quickly Bentham seems to be taking on the "public enemy No 1" tag at Headingley .... instantly replacing Klein.
