I seem to remember that before Morley signed for Wire Salford fans were hopeful he'd see out his career with them. Similarly, I suspect that in reality the Ellis-Cas thing will only happen if there are no offers from bigger clubs.

Or bigger offers from any other club. No way could Cas compete for him at present despite his stated desire to finish his career here. However at the end of next season two of our most costly (yet least valuble) players will be out of contract and thereafter he would be very affordable.

Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox.
"He'd say if we had 13 Bernard Dwyers we wouldn't lose many RL games. It's the same for us with JJB"

i would have still loved moz in our side though regardless of our clubs success',
are you saying that as we have been so successful that we couldn't have signed players that would have made us even stronger?

I guess what I meant was that with the salary cap the upshot would have been that had Morley
come in, one or two players would have had to leave. now we may have still been successful, but one of our strengths has been a deep squad

Meanwhile, the 30-year-old Ellis has confirmed that despite his success Down Under, which has seen him named Wests' player of the year for three straight seasons, he still wants to return to England before the end of his career.

He said: "I love coming home. Towards the back end of the year I look forward to getting back on English soil and catching up with the family.

"I've got two years left at the Tigers and then I'd like to finish off my career over here.

"It surprises people, especially in Australia, but I'm pretty adamant that I'll come back. I never went with the intention of staying. I'm really enjoying what I'm doing but I do definitely see myself coming back."

Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

I read the same article in yesterday's Yorkshire Post. He says he has no ties to any club over here when he comes back. He as much as dismissed the Cas rumours by saying "well, I wasn't good enough for them as a junior...."

As he'll be 33/34 when his deal is up and will be heading to the highest bidder I suspect he'll be a Wolfe and good luck to him, and them.

Hindsight's a great thing though isn't it? Morley signing a four-year deal with Wire did seem a big risk to virtually everybody at the time. Glad that it paid off for both sides, but I can't blame GH for 'missing out' on that particular deal.

Don't forget Leeds also missed out on getting Iestyn Harris back.

This was a mistake as Iestyn led the Bulls to the 2005 title while Leeds lost two finals.

And look at the Bulls now. We had the emergence of Burrow and Mags and they have continued bringing success to the team. Im glad Harris never came back

I would imagine that GH actually thinks that the fact that Iestyn never returned to us and went to the Bulls instead was actually a financial masterstroke

I would have thought that you would have been better asking the Bulls fans what they thought regarding their club since his much trumpeted signing and under the Rhinos noses, as I'm sure you'll get a clearer answer there Sally

I'm not sure if this is comedy genius or for real.
