| Quote Above & Beyond="Above & Beyond"look at the mess we got ourselves in to trying to keep Harris,'" What mess? The reported £800,000 transfer fee we received or the unreported compensation we received from the Bulls when he came back? Both deals brokered by the man some posters on here have accused of bad management.
What mess did we get in with Harris Loz?

| Quote DISA="DISA"Your missing the point Emma. You are not wrong from your point, but you are missing the point.
We now have 14 teams in Super League, and we want the quality to improve considerably. There is already a lack of quality players going around to accomodate those teams, to keep a good quality level playing field. Everybody wants to reduce overseas players, this places a further burden on the need for quality british players.
Why therefore not do anything as a game to ensure good quality british players are not lost to the game?
The RFL should in some way, maybe subsidise in salary cap for homegrown academy players (discussed previosly) to help us as a game not lose quality british players from Super League.'"
So who do you class as a 'quality' British player?? Someone who is first team SL???
Are you seriously saying that any player from any team in SL who is linked to RU should get their salary subsidised by the RFL??? So a mediocre player who is linked to RU should get their salary subsidised?
I know what you are saying about British players, but if a player wants to go and try the other code, he is going to. IMO I want players who want to play for my team, and for England, not players who have been swayed by money and are not enthusiastic about it.

No. I am saying that any quality british player, possibly below a certain age, there should be some assistance to keep him in the game. That quality of course has to have some kind of measurement. But you can hardly argue on an International.
Possibly that help does not have to come direct in money terms from the RFL. It could be in the form on concessions on the salary cap for homegrown academy produced products. Therfore encouraging the use more of British players.
I dont have the answer, but the fact we now have 14 teams, and more players required to spread around, we should do all we can to stop people leaving the game.

look at the mess we got ourselves in to trying to keep Harris, if Smith wants to go, release him. If he doesnt want to stay thats his mind made up
I would rather have a player fully commited than a player who be having his mind swayed by a carrot attached to a stick in front of his eyes'" What £800k mess

| Quote DoubleAone="DoubleAone"could someone enlighten me ...who are all these young RL nutured players that are leaving the game in droves....???
The Smith departure is pure speculation ATM. Which other young up and coming superstars have left this season...or last season for that matter.
'"
No such actual activity is required for jerking knees to start hitting tables in RL land. This flap happens on message boards every time a player is linked with a move to RU. I mean, when Walker and Ashton left Doomsday was upon us. There is, in fact, a disturbing parallel between this mind set and the "21st December 2102" thread...
