Yeh I agree.
I personally think we're lucky to have a back up HB of the quality of Myler tbh. Not many teams have that. He was very good there at the end of last season.
Problem is, with Hooley currently injured, we're exposed at FB. He would slot there if Myler has to go to HB.
But you simply can't have 3 senior players for every position.
Sinfield still needs a couple of years to prove if he can make the step up.
I'd also like to see a classy stand off with pace to replace Austin for 2024 - easier said than done of course!

I'd love to see us go after Mikey Lewis. I think that kid has something special about him but he's contracted until 2025

He would be my choice too. Suspect we might keep an eye on Kyle Flanagan. He can't seem to find a proper home in the NRL but would likely be a MOS candidate over here.

Rate him highly but HKR would want a hefty fee so I doubt that we would consider it.

Are some of the halves off contract at the end of 2023. Croft obviously the outstanding candidate, but he will likely have NRL offers. As could some of the others mentioned.

Croft you would think would be also the most affordable providing as you say if he doesn't receive offers from NRL.

Luke Brooks would probably cost the most on that list but he's really never fulfilled the promise he had as a kid. Doueihi looks like a good rugby player but hasn't really done much as a halfback. Cogger has gone to be a reserve at the Panthers so I'm not sure why we'd be interested. Flanagan has a lot of question marks, with some rating him highly and others seeing him as hugely overrated. I also saw an interview with his dad who said he'd need to take a big pay cut to go to SL, and just didn't sound interested.

So of that list Croft would be tops for me. He wasn't the only player to fall apart at the Broncos when he was there. He got a lot of stick and his confidence evaporated, but he was clearly very highly rated as a youngster and seemingly part of the Storm's long-term plans until the Broncos waved a big cheque at him.

Proof positive that sometimes just "going for the money" isnt always the best strategy.
