Another I missed is "Still got the blue" by Gary Moore.
I have a friend who thinks its the best piece of music ever written in the world, ever.
It was good listening to it in the sixth form block all those years ago, but its off-the-shelf standard formula guitar playing in the same style as many American "rock" bands are.
Wasn't there a horrifc 80's version with it mixed in with Stairway to Heaven or something? A bit like taking your favourite dog outside one evening for a walk and for no reason at all hacking it to death with a blunt axe.

Most epic solo for me is La Villa Strangiato, the way Lifeson takes it from slow and mellow to fast and brutal is unmatched. The live version is truly extraordinary.
