I remember a thread on here a few weeks ago titled "Nothing about Wigan". Well who's laughing now you bleating, bitter Whinos? You are hardly well placed as a teams set of fans to start talking about arrogance and class.

I understand you were responding to a rather taunting post, but we would probably not have been relegated that year even had we not signed Stuart Fielden and gone over the cap. The signing of Brian Noble had a lot more to do with us climbing from 6 points clear at the bottom of the league to finishing 7th that year, and Noble's salary didn't come under the salary cap.

Therefore we would probably have been where we are now, or thereabouts anyway, but who can say for sure?

At the risk of boring myself by going over old ground, let's have something straight.

The ONLY way that Wigan would have been relegated in Cas's place is if we had been punished TWICE in one year.

OK, we broke it once, but the other "breach" was NOT a breach at all.

We had arrangements in place for several players to defer payment s until the following year (which is a valid and accepted practise in the NRL and was NOT against the rules in ESL).

We were charged - and somehow found guilty of - breaking the "spirit" of the cap, by doing something that simply wasn't legislated for in our league, but was (and remains) valid in many leagues around the world (including the NRL).

So get off your (not so) high horse and kindly stop dragging cr@p up from 4 years ago which has no relevance to today's game.

Back to the game - Glad we won, as I really didn't expect to (probably as a result of our last few fixtures at this point of the season). Hope you put in a good performance next year, but I honestly think that we should be a lot better next year too, as this year was always going to be a transitional year under the new coaching setup.

Unlucky Leeds, you kept going to the end like true champions but you do appear to have gone backwards these last two years. Still a very good side but no longer the benchmark that other teams measure themselves against

Wigan deserved it, for a season long effort in the league and yet again the Grand Final will be 1 V 2 which proves the value of the regular rounds. Fantastic defensive effort won the game.

It will be an interesting final. Cunningham V Wigan.

It could go either way so good luck to both. Bentham in charge for me.
