The Bulls were interested but couldn't match an offer he received from the NRL, apparently.

Bails must have had a good offer when you think he will be leaving on what could be his testimonial year.

If he's anything like off the pitch what he's like on it (and I've no idea nor have any desire to find out) that prospect would be reason enough for me to thank him for his efforts and wish him bon voyage.

I appreciate most of what he's done and still does on the pitch but I don't think he portrays himself, his club or the sport in an entirely positive light. Said much the same about James Graham and James Lowes on occasions.

I remember the days when players were fined for not having their shirt tucked in their shorts but they gave as good as they got, played the game for love and were almost to a man true sportsmen.

Not a great year by bailey so far IMO. There has been glimpses but generally not been as good this as last. Thought he had a good year last year. The sort of player you don't really miss till they are not actually there anymore. Good luck to him in aus can't fault anyone wanting to leave here to live in Aus, and he can continue his winding up of the ginger ninja.

And we played 300 a side with jumpers for goalposts until our mothers called for home and the summers seemed to last forever and ever.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.

Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.

Hogwash. There were some thugs playing the sport in those wonderful glory filled years you hapr back to.

You would really be happy to see a rugby league forward leave the club because he wasn't a nice guy off the field? Deary me today.

Happy days.

Speaking of 300 - I'd still like Bailey to crack the 300 appearance club for Leeds before he leaves (whenever that might be) - 13 to go at present so still possible before the season end.

Indeed there were - like the referee they were a necessary evil and every team had and needed them. They didn't go around winding opponents up trying to goad them in to a reaction to gain a penalty or try to get another player sent off - those type of antics were left to the half-backs. The forwards talked the talk and walked the walk and still shook hands at the end of the game and no doubt had a drink or several in the bar afterwards.

I'm talking about what he's like on the field and if he chooses to leave at the end of his current contract I'd wish him a safe journey as I said above. I'd actually like to see him over in the NRL - there's a very good player in there somewhere IMO and I think we might get to see that side more if he wants to make it.

I will never knock anyone for having the guts to play RL, it's an incredibly tough sport. However Mr Bailey doesn't seem to cover himself in glory. He is a typical bully, throws his weight around and then goes missing once the big lads come looking for him. I must admit that i had to laugh when Radford offered him a lot of money to fight him at his charity boxing night and he refused.
