It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

I’ve just watched this too, it’s excellent. Just underlines that JJB (who with your eyes closed might as well be an inexperienced coach version of BMD) understands the reality, he knows what’s wrong. Equally it’s beyond him to fix right now and I think he knows this.

Wilkin was also spot on that our recruitment has been very poor for 5 or 6 years, we’ve done things on the cheap for far too long. Along with some genuine quality signings, What we need is a few JJB’s, who will push through pain, who will whoop and holler when someone makes a big tackle, and who will drive up the energy and enthusiasm, and that comes from our youth.

We need to cut the poor performing experienced players, and there’s plenty, it’s time for GH to be ruthless again.

If we are now set to interview "European" candidates what the hell was we doing for 2 weeks before going to Australia?

Exactly. It looks hopelessly amateurish to make a big deal about interviewing in Australia only to turn around and decide he needs to talk to people in England. I wonder if word is out in Aus that Leeds are a basket-case? Or maybe some potential coaches would turn the job down if they're forced to work with the likes of JJB and Agar and not have complete freedom over staff? In any event all this could have been raised and discussed via phone calls rather than a mid-season trip at the club's expense.

I do think GH was right to fly out to Oz. Certainly a much more professional approach. Rather than a zoom or telephone call. "want the job or what?"

What he did get wrong was the timing. Should have gone as soon as Agar stepped down. Would have given everyone a lift seeing that he is on with it instantly.

Who knows who we will get. All we do know is as each game passes and we lose the job gets bigger and bigger.

Has anyone on here ever had to recruit and interview people?

It’s time consuming even if it isn’t this high profile or candidates are in Australia.

Honestly i think some of you are going way OTT with this GH looks ridiculous thing.

If anyone thought a new coach would be in place 3 weeks after Agar resigned (remember he wasn’t sacked which is a big difference) they were in cloud cuckoo land.

I have been involved in multiple recruitment efforts in several organisations. If GH went to Aus and found out nobody is interested/available then its an utterly wasted trip, as he could and should have found that out before he left. Leeds is a small business by most measures, and he's the CEO. The bureaucracy on the Leeds side would be minimal.

Point is he could have rounded up some candidates and only talked to them if they were genuinely interested in moving now. That would include telling them all details they'd want to know - wages, key terms (especially around termination), housing etc. All of that could and should have been done before he left. If nobody was genuinely interested he could have saved a trip.

But Chris the club knew a few week before Agar stepped down where this was potentially going. His press conferences told everyone there was a chance he was on the verge. Certainly the week between Hull and Salford games the whole club knew exactly what would happen if we lost.

Surely GH was sounding people out to see where the interest was? I suspect he didnt.

Between Agar officially going and Gary stepping on a plane it was 2 weeks thats fine and understandable. Why didnt he interview the "European" candidates in that time? I just dont understand it. Especially knowing the busy Easter schedule was fast approaching.

Its just appears symptomatic of the club at the minute. A lack of urgency on the pitch and just the same off it.

The issue with going to Australia, as I said at the time, the salary difference between NRL and SL now and GH's lack of modern day contacts. Hes getting old now, he cant go on forever. This to me is further evidence of it.

Surely he knew if there was genuine interest in the job from Australia before boarding? Surely he had discussed the details of the job before packing his budgie smugglers in his Louis Vuitton suitcase?

Lets not forget hes telling kids the club is so skint it cant afford to pay them and then jaunts off on what looks a whim and prayer, all expenses paid trip to Australia. Which looks a waste of time snd money.

To be going into Easter with JJB in charge is not ideal. But this is what Gary wanted, this is what he created by pushing people out of the door. Go on Gary you sort this mess out.

GH likes Australia. Who wouldn’t want 2w out of the criticism here in the sun. He will also have met with some candidates who probably never realistically wanted the job. I have no issue with an English coach. Even if it’s end of season now…..
We just need to stay up and I think JJB can do that much…..
