Happy that the current champion club is content to rest on it's laurels (sitting on spendable cap money gathering dust in a bank account somewhere) while the squad remains understrength?
How very altruistic.
Hetherington often states how competitive SL is becoming and how many clubs are spending the full flat cap, the irony is that Leeds (the best supported club in the game over here) isn't one of them.
I have noticed that. However, only he, and other people at headingley know how much money there is, and what other priorities there are for that money. It could be that signing someone like gleeson for 200k is not considered worth it, in terms of what money will be needed to rebuild the south stand. On the outside of it it would seem like a small percentage of the money needed, however, long term the interest on such a sum alone would maybe not make it as beneficial to go out and buy the players we want.
I would rather the team remains competitive in the short term, and doesn't win everything in site, than spend moeny on some short term signings who are not guarunteed to benefit us, and leave us in a place where one of our main sources of revenue (the south stand) is threatened with clousre as we pi$$ed some well earnt money up the wall on expensive transfer fees.
