For those wishing Flanagan...whilst he did win Cronulla the comp (very Tony Smith) he was criticised a lot for a very dour style. He also presided over a supplements programme that potentially put players at risk and was enitrely against anti-doping rules. He then - rightly - got a ban from coaching, only to blatantly breach it almost from day one of his suspension. I'm not saying don't go for him, but he's not the messiah.
Regardless, now is the time when the management have to back the coach. If its right that Furner wanted some players out that GH and co wanted to keep, why would they react any differently if a new coach tells them the same thing? The evidence is clear that a number of our 'senior' squad are either not up to it or only play when they want to. They need to be got rid of regardless.
