We really need to get this appointment right. If Long and JJB are part of the furniture for the foreseeable, we need someone with experience and authority that will impress upon the assistants the need to learn and change things if necessary.

We may well still see a response with JJB in charge but I hope he's not holding the reins for too long.

I suspect at one point Rob Burrow was possibly part of the head coach succession planning equation. Seem to recall him mentioning ambitions in that direction at one point. Tragically not to be.

I feel that he would of been the head coach right now had it not of been for his MND diagnosis.

Rob had the most potential at the club and was the only one rightfully coaching on the scholarship when they used to chuck scholarship roles at anyone in the first team.

From the outside looking in I'm really not sure what Agar has done to engender such loyalty from the Rhinos board? He doesn't strike me as being any more worthy to be in a DOR role than a head coach role. If he had a glittering CV of previous coaching and leadership greatness then fine, but where is it?

Are there any rumours on where you go from here? Will Sean Long be given a chance? Or JJB? Or straight to the assistant coach market in the NRL? Plenty of worthwhile candidates there.

There are some decent senior coaches available in Danny Ward with his Leeds ties, Paul Green from the NRL. Cameron Ciraldo at the Panthers has a big reputation and wants to be a head coach, Michael Monaghan likewise, currently at Manly I think?

As a saints fan you probably won't know that the Hetherington's love him as thier own (especially Kath who was in charge at Hull where she installed him as head coach as well), so that is why he get the 'loyalty'. It is also why they have stated 'he has stepped down' rather than being sacked so they can continue to keep in a job 'for the boys' position where he will have no chance of being sacked. The facts are if you know Agar personally he is far too arrogant and too big an ego to step down of his own accord, and you can ask any of the players and they will tell you the same.... He has failed miserably at each of the 'Big' clubs he has coached at who have had the 'biggest' player budget. I see many have fallen for the 'Agar stepped down' line the club have put out.....bbbhhhhaaaaahhh

I'd have doubts about a lot towards the bottom obviously but the only ones which would make me take scissors to the season ticket card are McNamara and Lam.

Had to happen I’m afraid.

The body language after games was showing a man at the end of his tether and out of ideas. How can we go from training the house down all week (allegedly) then stinking the house out come match day? More than that, repeating this week after week?

He has lost the squad (or at least certain players) and at least he hasn’t dragged this out any further.

Please though, no more ‘mates’ or short cut appointments, we have to get this right unless we are doomed to continue this cycle of crap.

Resigned or pushed I don’t give a dam, only 6 month rolling contract so any payoff would have been small.

The issue was never Agar, although he should never have been given the job in the first place, or at least he should have handed over the head coach after winning the CC. The problem person was and is GH. When he appoints the next coach he needs to take a step back and give the coach 100% support. Like Furner or not with the rumours of a split camp led by one of the coaches, that should never have happened at the club, it needed a clear out and all it has done and added more years onto the so called rebuilding of the team.

How the club is structured with only 3 shareholders, the two big shareholders are Caddick and GH, you need to be a very wealthy man to buy out GH and his shares. That isn’t going to happen , so as much as he likes to interfere he needs to let the coach get on with his job.

Between the Caddick family and Hetherington family if the shares of the club have been set up right, they will be so called shareholder agreements in place in the event of death of one of them, otherwise GH daughter may take over his mantle when GH decides to call it a day.
Get the right coach GH, take a backward step GH , let the coach make all the decisions, if he wants to clear them out, sack a few existing coaches let it happen.
Not long ago, only a couple of seasons ago, one of the shareholders said to me, Agar is well liked in the dressing room, the players like him.
Well, I don’t want the players to like the coach, I want the coach to coach, make the decisions and if he breaks a few eggs then so be it, but this time GH and the others have to support him, not the players.

Looking at the team on Friday night, Agar has lost half the team, they have stopped playing for him. Righty so he’s gone, another job in the future at Headingley, he can wash the kit, he will end up at either a championship club or lower, unfortunately having coached at Warrington, Hull and at Leeds, all three situations have ended up the same. We are now no better than when Furner was sacked. Surely making him DOR is simply a dream it can’t be an option.
Mr Agar has simply had his day, he has had 3 opportunities at 3 good clubs, and has now left the clubs in positions where none of them are better for his experience. He has simply blown any opportunity of getting DOR at Headingley.
After 6 games the season is over, hopefully the new coach will give this team some self belief, something is missing, they train like a top 4 team during the week, then match day they play like relegation fodder, you don’t need to be a genius to guess who is, or who are at fault.

As usual the blue and amber people will give me a right kicking for my comments, but before you do surely I have as much right to voice my opinion as you chaps.
