I think you are being a bit harsh on Houghton. He did win m.o.s and at the time was one of the best no 9's in SL. To be fair Ellis should have won it.
In the last few years his performances have slipped due to being flogged for 80 minutes. I wouldn't have given him another contract but he had the option in his favour to carry on.
Lovodua was signed as a hooker but has hardly played there due to mystifying selection decisions by Hodgson and our usual injury problems.
The big hope is Balmforth. Very highly regarded but having 3 hookers ahead of him his game time may be limited.
