Wane apparently interested in the job according to the Guardian.I'm not sure. At one level he could be great in instilling some passion, better defence, and pride in the jersey. Then again, the guy is Wigan through and through. I only started watching Leeds when he was in our squad, but I'm not sure his past connection with the club is anything to get excited about (unlike Furner, for example, who was instrumental in a key season for us).
If people want a Graham Murray-style impact on the club, Wane might be best placed to deliver it, as much as he lacks Murray's warmth and charisma. Admit it, we all loved it when the likes of Morley, Fleary, Farrell and Glanville were hitting too hard in the tackle and we received an official warning from the RFL. Fans of other clubs thought we'd just become dirty, much as we have called out Wigan's tactics under Wane (although I'd hope Leeds don't go in for all this third man in cannonball stuff).
Personally, I'd prefer Tony Smith to come back (as I stated before Furner's appointment), although I admit this is much for sentimental reasons. A top profile Aussie could be good, but the appointment of someone like Flanagan would be un-Leeds like IMO (then again, so was the early dismissal of Furner). Interesting times.
