Donaldson doesn't play 2nd row when he comes on primarily because his lateral defence is a liability, Ruan has a way to go to be counted as an option for many games, O'Connor was a 13, who knows what this year will hold for him.

FWIW Goudemand is what id call a versatile forward, he can play Prop, SR and LF.



His versatility is probably why we’ve signed him

They've kind of got rid of it. They certainly have for Leeds, Wigan, Saints, Warrington and maybe one or two others but the likes of Cas, Salford etc will possibly be in the position we were in a few years ago. I can't understand why successful leagues like NRL, NFL etc can manage fully on licensing but we can't just because Football has P&R.

Also the lad from York who got injured.

I actually quite like the look of him but it bothers me that Cats aren't selecting him.



He seems to bring decent impact and aggression from the bench, but if we put him as 3rd sub than someone like McDonnell, O'Connor, Bentley, Gannon is going to miss out. Good problem to have I guess.

If and it`s a big if O`Connor covers LF would it be an idea to play Smith at prop?

He`s not barnstorming and he is not an enforcer but he does have good hands.

No, no and no. Smith is one of the best 13s in SL leave him there.

O'Connor will be good cover at LF, hooker and backrow.

Was just thinking about Dwyer earlier - has he got a club now? He's left Hull but Wire don't appear to have announced him as expected.

I'd hope Smith will have a slightly different role next year. Less need for him to play at, or before the line, where he can be good but also frustrating, and more need for him to play through the line where players like Croft and Miller should benefit as support runners.

I think so msny players have come in/gone out that the team will and should play quite different

Surely Hudson is not a major signing although I must admit I know nothing about him.

If we could just manage another hard hitting beasty prop, in addition to Hudson, I'd be prepared to lose a couple of other fringe players to make room...



I expect Mik, Tom, Sam and Justin to play well next season but I do think we'd look much better with another metre-making awkward thing down the middle. In fact to the point where I'd be feeling quite cocky about our chances in 2024.



Our second rowers tend to be mobile grafters so our props need to provide mass.



Said it already but I really think this signing spree represents Leeds finally turning the corner. We need some luck with injuries like anyone, but this squad now has a vein of quality running through it again. I reckon we just need one or two graduating from the academy system each year and we're looking pretty rosy again. Quality breeds quality: we're already seeing how much more attractive Leeds is to players as soon as we look like we're competitive again. That feeds through into the young players too, being around top class players.

Surely we don't have enough cap space for another major signing.So I would think it has to be Hudson.

He knows he is not a star and will not start every week. In fact not likely to start much at all and probably not even on the bench but when needed puts his head down and will do a job without complaining.

Don’t forget it’s a salary cap sport. We will probably have to wait until 2025 and I for one can do that.
