Mullalley : Sat Aug 15, 2015 4:46 pm
Had a decent game for Wakey today. Bradford Bulls for Super League, dream on ,they were rubbish nowhere near SL standard. And now Lowes named assistant England coach, bloody hell

When mullalley first came to wakey he clearly lacked match fitness and was blowing after 10 minutes. A few games and looks to have found some fitness and form. He was good vs Salford last week.

his stint at wakey seems to be doing him good and think you picked up a good one.

Really pleased to read this.

Getting Garbutt over mid season so he is fully up to speed with SL and the club for the start of next season is great management.

Now Mullalley is getting regular gametime so he will be in good shape and good heart coming to Leeds.

Means the only true newbie to the front row will be the new Aussie.

All looking good

Re Lowes, Powell or even Danny Orr would have been a better choice IMV to assist McNamara.
Essentially ABL.

He looked quite good, more of a work in progress at the moment. I was surprised how poor Bradford looked.
I can't see them in super league. As for the appointment of lowes, bizarre in the extreme.
Probably because any sensible appointment such as Powell , Or even our own coach would be superior to the main coach. Which obviously would not look good.

After 30 mins Bradford settled down and started to play a bit better, tough especially when Gaskell had to go off early. But the opening 30 mins they just froze big time on the big occasion.

Also Wakefield started to give away some stupid penalties, which enabled Bradford to gain some momentum.
I would be surprised indeed if Bradford made it to the super league.

Well the appointment of Brian Smith was a great move by Wakey. Had they stayed with Webster I think they'd definitely been relegated.

Lee Smith I thought rolled back the years with a big performance in a crucial game, might not've been a GF but still a very very important game for Wakey's future.

I'm sure those criticising the selection of Lowes as an assistant coach have extensive knowledge of his expertise in that role.

Have a look at the records of clubs where he's been an assistant coach - under Noble at Bradford, under Smith at Warrington and under McDermott at Leeds. Not too shabby.

Unlike you of course who do.
Alternatively, the success of all those clubs was despite rather than because of Lowes.
Certainly both Warrington & the Rhinos have prospered since his departure, the Rhinos especially.
How well did Salford, Warrington & Bradford do when he was head coach?
They hardly set the world alight.
