We are in a pickle. We have players who can do a job, just not consistently to the required standard, to improve them we need a coach who is able to improve the players at his disposal as we are really going to struggle to plug all the gaps with new signings in one hit.
This is where my doubts arise in Agar, has he the nous and ability to coach the players up to a decent standard? With a decent No 2 i think we can push them on somewhat to a better level, im just concerned that the fragile mindset we have acquired is going to hamper and gains we make in the squad and this need addressing first and foremost.
The Fragile mindset hasn’t really showed itself since Agar took over IMO, the only game that sticks out is Hull KR
just seen something on ,yes I know FB that Myler could be on his way to wait for it HULLKR !
To be honest that makes a lot of sense especially for Myler, it’s clear we need a different type of player and if he can get a 2-3 year deal with Hull KR he should take it rather than seeing out his contract and they are losing both their first choice half backs
I did assume he might go to HKR, but the thing that would hold it back would surely be TS. Smith has worked a lot with Myler, and dropped him for the CC final against us because of his poor defense. I think he was also still in charge at wire when he let him move on to Catalans?

KR have just lost Atkin, Drinkwater and McGuire too.

Yeah TS is shrewd and he knows what players can and can't do.
The question is whether Myler can do what HKR need him to do for them - which in all fairness might be more a developmental role. Depends how they feel he would combine with their other half options too.
Atkins would have been a good partner for abdull but sheens who is years past his best didnt play him and got an offer from salford and took it.I know for a fact atkins would have stayed with rovers if smith had been in charge and we wouldnt be sfruggling like yourselves for a decent half, myler isnt our answer, just not good enough if we have any ambition.
But as Jim says, whilst Myler may not be your long term answer at HKR will he do enough of a job next year to allow you to build? Ambition (and a decent halfback) costs, so a couple of years with someone steady and cheap(ish) will allow you to strengthen elsewhere. (Please take him.)
