The stats are pretty meaningless. There are variables in every match so any like-for-like comparison is impossible.
The implication of the article is a bit off colour for me. I don't think referees set out to favour one club over another. They have a really tough job. With greater emphasis on late collisions, perceived head shots and the game getting faster, the job isn't getting any easier.
I'm not saying I'd have bought Kendall a pint after Saturday's game, but I don't believe any referee looks to swing a game through decision making.
If after every loss, supporters look to blame the officials, recruitment will become even more of an issue, the standard or referees will slide and the game will suffer.
I would imagine incorrect decisions even themselves out over the course of a season.
