I agree, this is the worst I've seen saints play for 15 years.

Surely the evidence would be the first 7 games this year. There are only 27 games in the regular rounds so we are 1/4 of the way through the season, it would take an unbeaten run to make the top 3 now.

Last year we lost 7 and drew 3. To make the top four the giants lost 11. So the top 4 aint out of the question, but there is on current form plenty of evidence that Royce's coaching leaves alot to be desired, he can hardly say that this is not his team.

Unfortunately, we were only marginally better at the start of last season and then almost won the GF. I'm not suggesting Royce is the greatest coach since Wayne Bennett. But there are other factors that are equally important such as McManus' poor staffing policy (Gardner, Meli, long term contracts to over-the-hill players), the unfortunate loss of Eastmond last year (who was our scrum half for the next ten years) which Lomax's short-term success papered over the cracks etc. And then there's the failure of established players such as Wilkin to lead in the absence of Graham (who we couldn't replace).

I seem to recall last season you pretty much beat every mid and bottom table team whilst losing almost every game againts the top four teams. To date this year you've only played one of the top teams. It is not beyond the realms of possibility (even possibly probability) that you will lose your next three matches. From there it will be very difficult to make the top four.
