Commiserations from Leeds : Sat Sep 21, 2013 2:15 pm
Heads up lads your team did you proud last night as the score reflects, could have gone anyway.I was bricking it with score locked at 10=10. Huge respect to both teams for leaving nothing on the pitch and doing their clubs and RL proud.....All the best lads, Saints will come back stronger and better next season.....take it easy boys

It was a proper play off game that's for sure. I really though we were going to do it when Manu got his second, but it wasn't to be.

Once again no one will fancy facing the play off specialists from Leeds!

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Anyone think Manu had the space to cut inside???

It's all irrelevant now, but 1 or 2 meters would have made the kick drift the other side of the sticks.

I think if he cuts inside he is turning into hardaker, he slows his momentum and puts grounding the ball in jeapordy, hardaker is adept at holding players up, see westwood last week.

Awesome game and given your early/mid season problems this was more akin to some of our battles in the recent past.

The fact you were still in the game at HT despite no territory and then got back to 10-10 was magnificent.

Great following as well and at 10-10 and Sir Kev kicking out on the full I was convinced you'd go for goal and knock us out. I heard what Brown said in the post-match press conference about the reason why but I still don't agree.

I think at worst if he misses it goes dead and you get the ball back to set up for the winning drop goal attempt anyway.

A strange decision for me given the low risk for maximum gain

I think you'll be a force next year.

All the best

Phil Bentham scoured the video tape and despite conclusive evidence that Smith was a half yard offside, he allowed the try to stand.

Saints are a big-game team with bags of big-game experience. They have won five Challenge Cups from six final appearances in the Super League era and have won five Grand Finals in that time too.

Add two World Club Championships to that and you have the roll-call of the best rugby league team this country has produced in the modern-era - and it's a phenomenal record.

I am ashamed to be a Wigan fan hell yes, what have we got to be un-ashamed about? We are a joke, a laughing stock, we are NOTHING, why cant people understand!"

I watched the try a few times thinking the same. He scores as close to the sticks as he can. If he'd ran anymore direct and/or cut inside he'd have been risking the try. We may never have got to 10 all.
Fact is we blew chances with poor decisions and execution. Turner should have kicked it, we should have gone for goal from halfway, and we should have kicked the drop.
Three mistakes in play off rugby. Sometimes one is enough to lose the match.

Great effort though. Really enjoyed the match, we will be back!
