The whole tackles/missed tackles thing is a bit misleading looked at in isolation anyway. What matters is the ratio. If you make 50 tackles, I'll forgive your 3 misses. If you make 8 tackles, your 3 misses are unacceptable. However, if you play in the forwards, most of your tackles are guys running straight at you, and it's unlikely to be one on one. Last year, Hohaia and Perry were the scapegoats. This year LMS is currently the goaty leader, but I think he's carrying the can for a much wider malaise in the team.

I would not call him a scapegoat, unless you can have several at once.

LMS, Wilkin, Wello, Turner have all been picked up for one reason or another.
Lance on the other hand who has been woeful for 2 years and getting it in the neck for 2 years has put in some decent performances and people have left him pretty much alone. Even I've thrown him the odd compliment.

Lance has been pretty crap since day one. I said before he even set foot in St. Helens that he won't make a stand off as long as he lives and I was correct, he hasn't and won't.

However, I've cut him some slack as he's been asked to play a role he basically can't. I bet he's only played fullback 3/4 times in the whole time he's been here which is obviously he best position.

I think lance came here to play and pretty much gives his all each week. The amount of cover tackles he's done shows he's trying. He always gets thru a lot of defence for a "stand off".

It's not lack of heart or effort with lance, it's basically lack of ability.
