Wilko : Sat Jun 28, 2014 9:18 pm
Thought he was superb last night when asked to move into the halves. Lead the team around the field really well and grew in confidence as the game went on.

I was having a conversation with a couple of mates last night about him after the game, and it got me wondering where exactly his best position is. Ask him personally and he would say that his favoured position is at loose forward. Last night he was given the opportunity to play through the middle and he was, for me, our MOM.

Are we wasting him out wide in the second-row or should we give him the loose forward role and tell him to build on last night? Does playing him at 13 leave us too light up front or is it worth the risk?

What do we think?

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Re: Wilko : Sat Jun 28, 2014 9:35 pm
Although he's got a no 12 on his back he doesn,t really play second row, we have a couple of loose forwards in Wilkin, Flanagan and Manu who adapt to how the game develops.
There is only Wilkin who has all the 3 skills of good footwoirk, passing skills and a reasonable kicking game.
Wilkin dropped off a few kilos to play in the halves last year and not really put the body mass back on this year to be a momentum second row.
He will carry on having a free role pivoting with the halves, him and Wello have proved very valuable in our offence this season.

Soliola LMS
Wilkin

With Manu on the bench would be my preferred back row out of the current options.

LMS isn't a prop, and could be effective out wide, and played on hohaias side (who doesn't need protecting in the same way other halfbacks do imo) doesn't have to do as much lateral defensive work. Wilkin in the middle takes defensive work away from Roby, whilst having all the skills in attack to be a good ball handling lock. Manu starts on the bench to avoid the early brain farts, and can be brought on to play a much wider game, as he used to at Hull.

Mugwump mocking mental illness for a second time -

Utter disgusting abusive remark from a keyboard warrior

Re: Wilko : Sun Jun 29, 2014 7:19 am
I been very critical of Wilkin over the years as I think he's not played to his ability. I thought he walked our player of the year in 2013 and shocked turner got it.

He really stood up on Friday when moved into the halves but the fact he's not a halfback means he's pretty inconsistent there.

Look at Leeds away in the cc when he was selected over lance in the halves and he was awful.

I basically don't know what to do with him but I think I'd play him 13.

His best position is second row. His work rate in defence is very good and I thought we missed that when he was missing the other week.

He did well on Friday but he will always be an emergency HB.
