Percival Potential : Sat Feb 28, 2015 7:31 pm
Early days yet and he needs a couple more years but I am liking the look of Percival. When he first came into the team, although he lacked the size and speed to make any impact I was impressed with the way he applied himself. It wasn't that he didn't look out of place, it was that he played like a player who believed he perform at this level and even if, at that time, he might have lacked some punch his effort and determination suggested nobody had told him either.

Last year was his first full season wasn't it in the first 17 and a year later I like how he's progressing. He's physically maturing, his game awareness is sharper and it's showing in his confidence. It's not dissimilar to Makinson who, despite not possessing any obvious advantages to his game, looks like he has a natural athleticism that can push him further than initially expected.

It's certainly a reflection on our farm system. I remember when the kids started coming through who weren't carrying any luggage from facing Wigan during the late 80s/early 90s. Kids like Jonkers, Roby, Graham etc. It makes a hell of a difference when the players have that belief in the themselves and I think we can do a bit, as supporters, in helping them because there's lots of inexperience in this team. Even some of our older players haven't played at this level before. It's a long season and given how we sneaked home last night, it's going to have some downs before any possible ups.

Come on The S!

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Welcome to four years back. I was really disappointed when he went to Saints instead of coming to Wigan. From first watching him he looked and still looks a class player. Should be playing at International level in the next 2 - 3 years.

I've said in a few threads this year already that he's all class. Even as a very young kid playing first grade it was clear he had massive potential and at times was our go to man.

His defence has improved 100% and looks very very solid. He's by far the best centre at the club and I beleive will play for his country.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

There is a couple of younger players who have learned ai lot from our grand final win and the world club challenge game, Percival is one of them, his progress has been great over the last 4 years.
Reminds me a lot like Noonan who use to play for Saints, Percival has added a bit more bulk, strength and speed over the last 2 seasons. The best factor is that he doesn,t "go missing" in big games and should be putting pressure on our current England backs, future international most definitely.

He's always had pace mate, he's always been one of the fastest players in the squad and I think only swift is quicker.

His defence was superb on Friday and the way he adapted to wing was great and we didn't look a man short.

Did anyone else hear B McDermott criticise him after scoring the try in the corner?

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.
