If that was a try then Greg Inglis touched the ball down before Ryan Hall.
The whole thing is a complete fiasco. Three tries given in two games by the video referee which IMO beggar belief.
In the case of Josh Jones we have the video ref ruling for a try despite NEVER seeing the ball grounded at any point. Deferring to the ref's hunch is a sophist's cop-out given that the video referee was brought in precisely BECAUSE refs were making so many bad calls. As for the other two - what next, grounding at the end of a hair follicle? A bead of sweat?
I keep hearing people saying, "You don't need control of the ball" without ever stopping to think how stupid scoring without control of the ball sounds. Especially since Rugby League is a game centered upon ball control.
IMO it should be palm of the hand in full contact with the ball - all the way down - or nothing.

I agree....video refs were meant to bring an end to controversial decisions - in fact the introduction has done nothing else other than add to controversial decisions. At least this time we have consistency....which is in itself a rare commodity. Decisions continue to be subjective rather than objective....and the new ruling of having to be certain to overturn an on field decision (often a 50/50 at best guess - especially with Child) is a farce.
