Halfbacks for the Playoffs - An Idea : Thu Aug 22, 2013 9:55 am
I was thinking this morning whilst getting ready for the daily grind of working for a living about what we could do to give ourselves a chance in the upcoming playoff series. As we know our major problem this season has been a lack of halfbacks and Gaz O'Brien's loan spell showed us what we could do with a specialised halfback (although he was no world beater).
So my idea was to loan a 6 and a 7 from clubs outside the playoffs... this could be detrimental also, so going down the idealist route I would loan Chase from Cas and Tim Smith from Wakefield, this would mean De-registering Perry and another overseas player (Preferrably Hohaia or Laffranchi). This would give us the organisational number 7 and the unpredictable, off the cuff 6 the majority of us so desire.
The obvious detriments to this would be that it could take them time to settle into our plays and before our playoff series starts it will be over... so in an ideal world if a 6 and a 7 could slot seemlessly into our squad and complete our plays who would you like to see running our halfback roles for the playoffs?
Please note I am fully aware I may be ridiculed for posting this idea, and that this idea is purely fantasy, but this is solely designed to delve into the thoughts of the others into the possibilities of what we could have and what we are likely to go with.
