Is LMS - Captain 2015 : Sat Sep 20, 2014 8:01 am  

Has anybody else noticed that LMS is doing a lot more more pep talks these last 4 weeks, last night post match he had the team gathered around giving a victory speech.
With Wello not guaranteed a first 17 place, I,m wondering if LMS is going to get the captains arm band next year.

I only caught a bit of that speech on the cameras but it looked to me like some of the lads were amused at what he was saying which I'm sure wasn't his intention.

Could be wrong about that but he's not captain material in any case, and even if he was could you imagine him ever being picked over Roby?

LMS isn't captain material - at least not yet. Being passionate and committed isn't enough. You need someone with a cool head under pressure, who knows the game backwards, and who carries the unquestioned respect of the rest of the players. Wellens actually is a good captain, but the captain's head is being carried on an increasingly uncompetitive body. I would expect next year to see Wilkin become captain, if Wellens isn't playing so much. But I wouldn't rule out Luke Walsh.

I think he would make a good captain. The guy has put himself out there and attempting to show leadership skills. Some players are vocal leaders others are more physical leaders by buting a big shot in or busting a few tackles. In conclusion, I think its great he's showing passion and I hope it rubs off on a few of the younger players and more senior players.

2 and 1/2 better games after a dreadful string of performances with a few high fives does not make a captain.

I'm sure Wilkin is already positioning himself to be captain. He's another show pony who should be given a swerve.

The midfield generals Burns/Walsh are good calls as an alternative to Roby who would make a good Joynt like leader.

Surely Roby should be your captain?
He's your best player, does 80 mins, is a real leader and is best able to control and demand a response on the field from his fellow players.
I always thought he wasn't captain this year due to his time out last season. As he's gone through this year pretty much unscathed then it must be his armband next season.

I'm going to go against the grain, I don't think Roby should be captain, I think it has a negative affect on his game, and seems to almost weigh him down and stop him playing how he wants. Walsh would be a good leader imo but I don't know how up for it he would be, he's never seemed one for the limelight. On the other extreme, Wilkin would be up for it, but I'm not sure where he fits in the team next year, let alone as captain!

LMS is obviously a vocal leader within the team, but would giving him the captaincy stop him going hiding in tough games ... Or underline it???

I too don't think it should be Roby vice captain perhaps. Next season I just can't see Wello being Captain because he's not going to get many games with Walshy, Burns and Lomax in the frame. I,m going for Wilkin or LMS.

Roby is more of a "club" captain. leads by what he does, not what he says, and a very safe pair of hands around the dressing room, sponsors lounge, everywhere!
Walsh is a possible captain, leading the team round the pitch, screaming at players where he wants them
