Wakefield game.... : Fri May 01, 2015 11:28 pm
I'm amazed nobody's posted about the game tonight. I was working tonight so missed it but I listened to lots of it on radio merseyside. Sounded like Walsh ran the show and we cut them to bits. What did people think?

Re: Wakefield game.... : Fri May 01, 2015 11:50 pm
I thought our forwards were excellent again. Walmsley was his usual self and Sav did a strong 50-60 mins as a middle 13. Great to see Wilkin roughing it in the back row again, too (and doing a good job of it). Percy and Makinson were very good and Walsh had a decent game. But I thought the organisation from the halves could have been better, particularly from Burns - a lot of plays seemed to stop with him cutting aimlessly inside. But then we should expect this partnership to take time to gel. Overall the defence was good, although we still look a little vulnerable on the left edge.

Our Shannon didnt look like he got off a plane yeaterday. Great position play by him. Swift disapointingly slow when got a break. Makinson much better on the wing (as we all knew) Basically hard to tell how we were against a team wire put 80 on a couple of weeks ago

Saints played well. No one has anything to complain about so RLFans falls silent. Just wait till we underperform again and all the chimps will come back out of the woodwork.

We won, which is the first plus. McDonnell looked great from someone who was likely sunning himself on the beach a week ago. Lewis Charnock scored a brace on what I think is his real debut inspite of him playing for half a game two years ago and certainly didn't look out of place. Walsh commanded his troops well and took two good tries for himself. The second was a particularly good looking team try. Makinson scored one of his specials on the wing and Walmsley looked like he had had a much needed break.

Downsides were Burns spent half the game running up his own backside and missing goals, and man we are playing dull rugby.

We can do a lot better I think, good that we have a few play makers now, makes a world of difference.

could have easily been 60 points scored, it wasnt exactly free flowing rugby but the team looks good and looks set to kick on well.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Was not there so ive not commented.

Next week Catalan at home will be a good test. Beatable but very hard to beat in France.

Re: Wakefield game.... : Sat May 02, 2015 8:24 am
I think the great difficulty is that there were a lot of questions going into the game (Charnock and SMD specifically) but I'm not really sure how far we actually got in answering them,

On the face of it, it was a comprehensive performance that was never really in doubt - but if I read it correctly, this Wakefield side has conceded 40 every game in the last 10!

The best I can say is:
-We looked better with Charnock at hooker than flash
-SMD looked very solid at the back, and was the perfect game for him to come in and find his feet
-Thank God Walsh is back

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

Re: Wakefield game.... : Sat May 02, 2015 8:54 am
Bit scrappy in parts, with Walsh in the side and organising things it meant Burns doing a running game but it didn't work out for him because he changed direction quite a lot and got caught in heavy traffic, probably need a few more games to sort out there roles which is best for the team.
Glad Charnock got a game he didn,t look out of place its just a matter of able to do longer minutes at super league level. Turner came up with some big hits as well as Wilkin, we look quite balanced now we have a full back and winger playing in the right roles.

Thought the ref was a bit of a joke at times and contributed to the scrappy part of the game, to be honest if we played at full potential the score line should have been at least 50 - 0.

For sale thirty brand new suits, made in 2007 never been worn but rather tear stained.
Apply to Wigan warriors rented accommodation.

2 nil will get you a win
30 nil will get you a win
75 nil is absolute humiliation.
