serious question : Fri Aug 21, 2015 10:12 pm
There are 7 games in the Super 8s, of the remaining 4 how many will saints win? Given that the games are wigan, Leeds, Warrington and Castleford I think the answer is 0 I'm sad to say. If that happens what are the implications for KC?

You can't have watched Warrington tonight then, they've well and truly thrown the towel in on this season. You should beat them at home.

As for us (Leeds) never can tell the week after Wembley.

You should get 4th. Even if Cas beat you they'd still be behind you on points difference and their other 4 games are ALL away vs Catalans, Leeds, Wigan and Hudds. Can't see much joy there.

We'll beat Warrington on tonights showing. Leeds probably not but you don't know how the CC Final will affect them. Wigan we've got it in us to beat them as proven this year, though whether we will or not is another matter. I don't think we'll beat Cas.

On current form, I'd say the Wire game is a guaranteed 2 points for you.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.

Last 2 home games v Wigan and Warrington. Last game could be a dead rubber though if our points difference is reduced by Leeds and Castleford.

I don't think we will win a game this year now. We just look so poor in attack, we can't defend and our confidence is rock bottom.

Our only chance is the week off we get now with the challenge cup gives us a chance to regroup and get sorted.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

I thought this sounded familiar.

Also the annual bash the coach competition seems to be well underway this year.

It's Mike Rush who loves Brown. Wants him to stay on after next year. McManus trusts Rush. So I very much doubt McManus will sack Brown. Brown is secure and all the players can go home knowing they don't have to perform well to be guaranteed a spot next week.

As fans we sometimes read too much into these things.

I fully accept we are going through an awful run, I also accept that cunningham has cocked up in the last few weeks.

He's laid into his players, when their heads are already down from losses.

If you are going to pick a player out, do it in private and do it when you are winning and the team spirit is good.

Cunningham needs to go in and tell the players he's ballsed up and not got it right in the last few weeks. He needs to get their heads up and pump some confidence into them. Get them doing something different, have a fun training session etc.

If the players are worried, they will make errors.

Huddersfield are on a great run and running them close is no shambles. Lets leave the post mortem for the end of season, these players turned it around last year, when people were asking for the coach to go in the final weeks of the season. there is no reason why they can't do it again. It's about getting their heads right.

If you had to put your house on it, would you ? I think we rock bottom. Confidence is lowest ive seen from a saints side in God knows how many years. We can't open teams up. Look at thurdsy, we scored a barge over from Amor, a little scoot from Roby and off a kick.

We are not creating anything at all. It's total clueless rugby and for that reason I can't see us beating anyone. If we could tackle we might grind wins out but if we can't attack and can't tackle we got problems.

I'm not calling for KC head, I hate it when teams sack coaches after one season so I personally would give KC another go next year. Id look at bringing a good assistant in tho if I was KC and bin the "jobs for the lads" brigade.

KC should never have started droping players in the super 8s, this should have been done way before the super 8s. He's knocked players confidence and team spirit is low. We knew Turner couldn't tackle years ago but why drop him week one in super 8s? Total madness. We know Amor been off form but why wait to super 8s?

I would get Turner back in the centre and try and get him on the ball on the edge. He's s massive threat with the ball. It's to late now to worry about his defence so Id use his attacking threat. I'm not his biggest fan but we've played him centre 3 years so now is not the best time to change.

Get jones back in the pack as he can actully make breaks and will help out robes, Sav and Alex who are three man pack at the moment.

KC needs to tell them the season starts in two weeks and get back to what we do best, we got nothing to lose, go out and express yourselves and enjoy it!

100% agree.

WOuld I put my house on a win, no. Would I put a £10 on us winning another match, certainly.

I reckon we will beat Leeds, Warrington and maybe Wigan.

Not sure about Cas.

In the end the playoffs are going to be a tough ask. We will not finish top. Can't see Huddersfield leap frogging Wigan, so we will either end up playing Wigan or Leeds in the semi final.

I think we will finish top 4, which is not a terrible result for a rookie season, but he needs to learn from the mistakes he's made at the back end of the year.

But yes, get Turner back in the Centres,
Wilkin needs to get back and direct the team and if KC can't gee them up he needs to.
What I would not give for some LMS backslapping and high fives.

It's unlikely we will make the final, so rather than try to grind out a win, try and score more than the opposition and get some flair back into the side.

I was optimistic of top spot last year, this year I think we will finish 3rd, but I'm less sure of that than I was of us getting top last year.

Only a few weeks ago, we were up there competing with Leeds, yes we got beat, but we were in that game for large periods and withstood some of the best attacking RL of the year.

I think focusing on effort is the wrong call from KC, the effort and scramble has been there, but the enjoyment as faded as the season has gone on.

Doing a full season is probably hardest for a new coach, getting the players up for the good times or an odd match is the easy part. Getting them through the grind of a season needs some variety.
