The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

I don,t think he is putting the lad down, he is just stating fact that Lomax is a better player than Makinson, something 99% would agree on.

How is saying he's good and getting better putting him down?
Stop trolling this board or take a holiday from it!

What?

He was being compared unfavourably to Lomax - not as a full back, but as a player. How is that not putting him down, especially when he has just had an outstanding game?

I just felt it was an unnecessary put down when the lad has had a great match. Personally, I think he is just different from Lomax, neither better nor worse.

He has done ok there, but for me his carries aren't good enough and I always feel a bit uneasy when he's under a bomb.

He's a decent stand in, but Lomax is twice the player at FB.

I think they are both very good players. At present, Lomax is better at fullback, although I must admit that my memory of him there is now fading, it seems so long ago since he played! But he was more dynamic than Makinson. However, Makinson is faster on his feet than Lomax, and that showed again today when he squirmed through the defence a couple of times to make a break. Each brings a different flavour to the fullback position and personally, just now anyway, I don't mind which of them plays there.

I also think that Makinson is better on the wing than Lomax was when he played there, incidentally.

I think everyone agrees with you that Makinson had a very good game. But our first choice full back regardless how great Makinson plays will always be Lomax who is a very dangerous player and adds that panic to the defending side.
Its great to see that Makinson looks a better player being more involved in the full back position if he can improve further then he will be a great asset.

No but I wasn't saying that Lomax was a better PLAYER than Makinson, which you did.

Anyway, I'm not arguing about it. That's all I'm saying on that topic.

Makinson is a good player and improving. Lomax is more naturally talented and always will be(not something you can change). If he stays fit he has the potential to become world class NRL material, Makinson I suspect will hit a ceiling at 'very good superleague' level.
