Hull KR conceded 80 plus points against Wigan at home earlier in the season. Should they be shown the door as well?London has just lost its leader in Craig Gower and obviously things are not a bed of roses there generally but particularly at the minute. While they've been losing mostly, they've been competing for two thirds of most games this season, which is an improvement on last season. It would be a great shame if they have either thrown the towel in or if off field issues are undermining them.
As for their value to the sport, it is primarily aspirational. They are the only Superleague team in the south and there is a growing schools and amateur rugby league scene in areas of the south. With London Skolars and Hemel both now in the semi-pro leagues, young RL players have real professional rugby league to aim towards if that is what they want. All professional athletes want the chance to at least have the opportunity of playing at the elite level of their sport even if ultimately they are not capable or decide otherwise. To deny that is silly. So the Broncos play an increasingly important role in rugby league down south and if they go then the only immediately recognisable representation of our sport in the south goes with it since few people look under the surface and see what else is going on in the sport down there.
The sport definitely does need the Broncos and personally I hope they find a way through their current difficulties, preferably with some central help.
