Re: Mose Masoe : Tue Nov 05, 2013 4:22 pm
I payed close attention to the amount of minutes Mose did yesterday and people are obviously pre judging him. He played around 45 minutes, including a 25 minute period in the first half. That's long minutes for such a big man, when he's fully conditioned after a pre season I have no doubt the minutes won't be an issue for him.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

I would be quite happy if we can get 15 to 20 mins out of him each half, one of those sessions being a game changing one in our favour.

We dont need big minutes from him, he's an impact player. We have Amor and Lms for big minutes. Walmesley and Masoe for sheer brute force and impact

I did, I did. But he was playing against a bunch of blokes who included a lot of amateurs from the PNG local competition, and even then he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire. Anyway, I'm not writing him off, but there's big and fit (Perelini), and there's big and fat (Barry Ward), and he looked like the sort of big which comes with some extra pounds last night.

Plenty of time though. I'll be cheering him on in his [XXXL] Saints shirt.

For me Mose will be more equivalent to Baloo rather than Barry Ward. If we can get him fitter and he stays injury free then he will take a lot of "weight" of our other forwards.
Whichever way you look at him its an improvement on Josh.

I think he's more likely to be a Fa'asavalu type player., coming off the bench.

Re: Mose Masoe : Wed Nov 06, 2013 1:00 pm
It is obvious to me that he has been guided to understand how to manage his energy when on the field. So that he can be effective when he is needed.

You dont see him running on the off chance that he may get a pass from a break, his every involvement is pre determined. What this does mean is that oppositions will be able to ignore him on some plays as if he doesnt move you are sure he wont be involved in the play.
He also doesnt fly back into the line preserving his energy - this also means he could be targetted in attack.
If I was in charge of him next year I would look to up his work rate and worry less about the length of time he is on the pitch.
Up his work rate - increase his fitness - better involvement when he is on the pitch - eventually more minutes and at a more intense level.

I'd play him in the centres. That would sort our problematic backline.

I Also think some of it is him being lazy.

I think he will be a good player for us and a fans favourite.
