| Quote saint87="saint87"Desperate stuff this. Let me give you the ACTUAL quote that KC said in the press conference:
"At the start of the game, I wasn't sure what set of rules we were playing to - we were playing to international rules but they certainly weren't the ones I read".
What you have to understand is that journalists quite often 'twist' someones words and therefore misquote them. This is a classic example.
Now you said that we were playing under Superleague rules. Under these rules, there are very specific guidelines for non-players. The only person allowed on the field at any point in time is the physio. Everyone else is only allowed to enter the field of play when there is a stoppage in play or an interchange is taking place.
Last night every time South Sydney had the ball, a member of their coaching staff (disguised as a water carrier wearing a blue t-shirt) entered the field of play and remained there for all 5 tackles. This is NOT allowed under Superleague rules.
It seems to me that two sets of rules where being applied last night. Hence why Cunningham said "I wasn't sure what set of rules we were playing to".
I would gladly clarify anything else for you.
'"
My quote was directly from a published source.
Yours?
Why didn't he qualify which rules he thought were not being adhered to in the press conference?
Why didn't he or one of his staff approach the match commissionaire at some stage (half time) to complain of what he thought was wrong.
The match was played under Superleague rules and if Souths were blatantly flaunting them then someone should have brought it to the match officials notice.
Edit
Please clarify
If they were playing under International rules as Cunningham suggested
1) What are the International rules regarding water carrier and physio?
2) Why were the allowing the free play?
3) Were the rules different for both teams?

The guy in blue and a fat bloke in orange spent most of the game directing play and at one point the bloke in orange was waiving at the ref to reset the tackle count.

| Quite ironic that a Wigan fan come on here and starts nit picking at Cunningham's comments, particularly considering the nonsense Wane comes out with that even embarrasses Wigan fans!

| Quote St pete="St pete"Doesn't matter what rules we played or If they had matt king running on every two mins, that's no excuse to concede 39 points and not scoring a single point.
Correct.
No excuses, they are a team that is another level to what saints are. It's that simple really.'"

| The extra time and Golden Point isn't in Super League rules.
It's in the NRL rules.
Also I think it's in the International Rules too. In 2006 Tri Nations, the Final between Aus and NZ went to extra time and I think Golden Point.
An absolute mish mash really which needs sorting.
A sport as small as ours having three sets of rules is nonsense.

| Coaching on the field isn't allowed in the NRL either. IIRC Langer has been ordered off the field in the past. I suspect its just down to the fact that it's a pre-season game.

| Over the years I have seen All team using staff on the pitch to coach, even Saints, but I don't think Sunday night that was the difference between a win or Loss, not sure any of the Sydney guys needed much coaching, agree it is well past time we all played under the same rules, doubt it though as long as NRL have the power they do and you have to admit they are well ahead of us in all areas.

Or one of the rounds leading up to it.
The Huddersfield v Saints Cup game last year went to Golden point.

Same with the play offs. Same with the Challenge Cup.
