The seven are listed in the previous post. They are players out but not all injured.

You can't count Bowen being dropped because he is garbage as a missing player!

Out of the other 6 I'd say 4 are definites for your 17. I don't think Thornley would be in before Sarginson or Gelling and Powell/Williams/Logan Tomkins tend to rotate.

So your guaranteed first choice 17 players unavailable is suddenly 4, not 7.

Thornley was our first choice left centre before he was injured! You are assuming that Bowen has been dropped. So it is 6 plus Bowen which is still half a team. However it matters not exactly how many as my point is that Wigan just get on with the fact of life that rugby players get injured. A couple of key players missing in most teams and they cry injury crisis!

Injuries happen - Saints have suffered more than most in the last few years though tbh

I am well aware about Thornley. But Gelling and Sarginson have overtaken him now. Most people on your board say GElling finished the season as one of the top centres in Super League and Sarginson was superb for both Wigan and England. Thornley is simply behind those two now.

Bowen was dropped.

I don't think anybody is crying, nor mentioning a crisis. We are simply discussing the fact we have been extremely unlucky with the timings of these injures.

We could potentiall have missing the equivalent of Hampshire/Bowen (depending who is least dodgy on any given week), Sarginson, Williams, Smith, McIlorum, Bateman, Farrell. Trust me if you lot had those players missing there definitely WOULD be talks of an injury crisis.

Thornley is still out on long term injury and so of course Gelling and Sarginson have temporarily overtaken him! We had the equivalent of those names plus more missing last year and still didn't winge about an injury crisis.

You mean the fact that Bowen was dropped and Thornley won't get back in the team when he's fit? :D

Thornley is the definition of average. I sincerely hope he makes a return to the Wigan side but doubt he will. Remember when the Wigan fans were saying what a heinous loss he was when he went to union :)

It's not necessarily how many are out (although we clearly have more - counting a player being dropped and another suspended as "injuries" is classic by the way, well done to that particular intellectually challenged Wiganer) but who they are.

The simple fact is that both teams will be significantly under strength and the depth of the squads will be tested. It should be a good game with a great atmosphere regardless of which players are on show. I strongly suspect Wellens, Roby and Greenwood will all feature in which case it'll be Lomax, Burns, Vaea, missing. Bring it on, can't wait!!
