Any way you and the Wigan fans try and dress it, you don't have your own stadium and rent it.
True - BUT seeing as the DW is owned by Wigan Council (although Whelan was supposed to be doing something where Latics owned the stadium - but nothing has ever come from that as I know), technically so do Wigan Athletic.
It's got to be to the benefit of the rugby club to own their own stadium. The rugby club can use the stadium in other events with produce cash that goes to saints RL.
I agree it is beneficial for a club to own thier own stadia but there are alot of teams in SL who aren't in full ownership of their own stadia ie. Wigan, Leeds*, Hull, so its not exactly a must in SL for clubs to own thier ground.
We won't have to mix our fixtures about to fit in with the number one sport in Wigan which is football.
With attendances lower than 15,000 for most games? And Warriors attendance pushing upwards of 16-17,000 per game? I don't think football is the No.1 sport in Wigan. However, PL rules dictate that PL matches must take priority over other sports at shared grounds.
At the end of the day, you rent your ground off a football club, not ideal to be honest.
See point one.
*Not 100% sure on the Leeds Rhinos/Leeds Tykes situation with Headingly.
As Rogues said, lets not turn this into a Saints/Wigan debate.
