Re: Super Kyle Eastmond : Wed Feb 16, 2011 10:05 am
I feel sorry for Lomax.

He is all quality, but is never a centre and we'll not really get to see him progress until he gets a good run at either 1 or 6/7. If Kyle does take his pieces of silver, I'd hope to see Simmons give Lomax the job of partnering Pryce for the season.

I like Wheeler a lot, but think he's far more suited to centre than Lomax - if we can keep him fit for a few games.

Fullback who can play 6. Leon has spelled at 7 before, and proved last year he is an organising force at HB. We aren't short of options. 'Appen those options require us throwing someone in at the deep end.

To be fair, I don't think we need anything ground breaking at 7. We need a good kicking game and someone who can link smoothley with our backs.

A couple of years ago, you'd have said Tommy Leuleui was a pretty limited scrumhalf in terms of skills, but Wigan are moving the ball very well these days. If we can start to shift the ball like they do, the likes of Pryce, Shenton, Wheeler if fit, Meli and Wellens will be running in some tries no problem.

Are you saying that Pryce isn't an organiser?

I think that side of his game has improved tremendously over the last 2-3 years, but I still think that it is only average and he's still are far more dangerous runner, I'm not saying he's just a runner though. Comparing that side of his game to Sinfield or Deacon, for example, and he is lacking even though I think he's a better player overall.

That's my thinking, but I'm not sure either Lomax or Wheeler possess those attributes, especially the kicking.

I'd forget about us signing first choice, in contract players for this year.

He hasn't gone yet. If he does then I think we should concentrate on going for somebody for next year. We can't afford transfer fees and it's not like there's anybody in Super League worth pursuing for just this season. Instead of going for somebody like, say, Dobson (he's not good enough for us btw) I'd rather us recruit properly for next season e.g. Benji Marshall ;)

Not sure myself; they lost Berrigan late on and have problems with Horne, so I just think they've seen an opportunity to add to their squad.

100% spot on....Obst will be our back up hooker and as and when Long and Horne are injured (which based on last year will be quite abit) then he can cover at half-back.

I came on here to see what the general consensus was on who you would look to sign if Eastmond does go to RU.....would be hugely surprised if Long does return to Saints, even if he is commuting over from Wigan everyday.
