I think there has to be an element of Marquee for clubs without the years of SL stability to boost their chances earlier.
The club grown route would take years to reach the same heights in the mean time those clubs get battered by those who can spend far more on quality club grown players. They lose fans and get relegated.

The bulls (twice), Wakefield, London, Salford all nearly gone to the dogs in recent years and now we want to spend 100s of thousands on marquee players. Surely that doesn't make sense?
The only way clubs can sustain their own future is by developing players.
Had the good DR put anything in place at Salford for their youth ?
