Never liked Brian when he was in London, he was still in his post military days! but I have respect for him at Leeds, though he has had some real good players to work with.

Why did you not like him because he was post military?

Moon was sent off after 22mins. Amazing if they looked like they would comfortably win it at that point when the score was 2-2!

The only place the game was close was on the score board. Leeds were turning the screw and continued to do so with 12 men. Saints worked the numbers and credit to them for that. An unconvincing win with 14 days prep against 12 men with 3 day prep.

Without reading all the posts and talking about "intent", that tackle is an example of the why shoulder charges are banned.

I actually thought that Leeds benefitted more. The sending off gave them a real kick up the booty whereas Percy going off disrupted our already lacking attacking shape.
Brown had a clear plan to continue to grind down the middle until the dam broke. It worked, but it was a close call.

The most intent was shown by Hohaia when Sutcliffe scored. As Sutcliffe is going for the tryline Hohaia tries taking his head off and actually goes so high that his arm goes over Sutcliffe's head which was lucky for the Leeds player otherwise he could've been following Percival in being helped off. A couple of inches lower and it'd have been 12 v 12.

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Here's the wording from the Operational Rules – Section - Sentencing Guidelines

Shoulder Charge

B-D Indirect or secondary contact with the head of an attacking player

C-E Direct initial contact with the head of an attacking player

GRADE NORMAL SUSPENSION RANGE

A.... NFA -1
B.....1 – 2
C.....2 -3
D.... 3-5
E.... 4-8
F.... 8+ or period suspension

So I'm guessing Grade C and a two game ban if he submits an egp.

Re: Moon Sending Off : Sat Aug 30, 2014 10:38 pm
I don't believe Moon is a dirty player and I don't think he went into the challenge intending to hit Percy high. However he did hit him high and it was correctly sent off. Heck TP got sent off before it was illegal to shoulder charge so there can be no argument.

I think it should be taken into account that players have been playing for years with shoulder charges being legal. So it will take a while for them to get the instinct out of their system. Previous bans would hint that the disciplinary committee don't agree with me.

The shoulder charge in itself is not a sending off offence.
It's the contact to the head that they are concerned about, and in Moon's case there was contact with intent.
